Document text submitted for analysis is transmitted to Anthropic's API using your own API key. This site's server relays that request but does not log, store, or retain the document text or your API key. A server-side operational log records only the timestamp, request type, HTTP status, response time, and the last 4 characters of the API key used (to assist support inquiries, similar to how payment card networks display only the last 4 digits of a card number) — never the full key. See the Document Submission Risk Notice for further detail on privilege and confidentiality considerations before submitting any document.
Separately, this site also logs anonymous activity for debugging and usage analytics — which actions were taken (analyzing a document, running a batch, exporting a report, etc.), whether they succeeded, how long they took, and which settings were used (model, effort level, whether citation checking or extended thinking was enabled). A randomly generated session identifier, not tied to your identity in any way, groups these events from a single visit together. This activity log never contains document text, citation text, signals, summaries, uploaded filenames, fetched URLs, or your API key — only metadata about what action was taken.
Every analysis is also automatically screened for hidden text embedded in a document's file format and for content that reads as an attempt to manipulate the analysis itself — this runs on every analysis with no setting to disable it. If something is found, it is shown to you in the results and included in anything you choose to export; if a security event is logged for debugging purposes, only a count is recorded, never the actual content found. See the User Guide for full detail.
With your permission, your API key and preferences (such as color theme) may be saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. This data is never transmitted to or stored on our server. A separate, short-lived verification cookie is used solely to confirm you have completed a human-verification (CAPTCHA) check, to protect the service from automated abuse.
